61 Historian’s report of the October 26, 1905 meeting, presided over by the Regent, Mrs. Arthur Maxwell Parker. Of special interest was the paper read by Mrs. Eugene Gibbs, entitled “Memorial Continental Hall”, giving a resume of the fulfillment of the dream of the Daughters almost from the beginning of our organization, though the various stages, including the laying of the cornerstone on April 19, 1904, and the final dedication in April, 1905, these two ceremonies having been presided over by the President General, Mrs. Charles W. Fairbanks, whose husband became Vice-President of the United States in March, 1905. A printed copy of Mrs. Gibbs’ address is in the scrap-book -- page 60-c.
